C. Madeleines was mentioned in October 2009 Ocean Drive Magazine
as Rachel Roy’s favorite shopping haunt in Miami.

Susie Bubble is one of the most recognisable, most respected and most widely-read fashion bloggers in the world. There is no wonder why she would mention C. Madeleine’s in her blog! Here is what she said:

“The name of the post refers both to the location of the store and the purchase at the store. It was arduous getting to C Madeleine’s, a vintage store that a couple of readers recommended on 13702 Biscayne Blvd in Miami but it was well worth the grotty bus ride up there and the feeling of not knowing where the hell I’m going. I’m now convinced that in every state of USA, a humongous trove of a vintage goodness exists seeing as I discovered the most wonderful vintage archive at Texas last year. C Madeleine’s though is not just for looking through as a museum archive but everything is for sale and it’s all minty vintage goodness. By ‘minty’, I mean high-quality, carefully selected and with historical breadth. Literally, name a Western Europe/American designer from 1930-1995.

I very bluntly declared to the shop assistant there that it was quite frankly one of the best vintage stores I had ever visited. Yes, London has a fantastic selection but I hadn’t come across one this well organised and well represented. You would walk in there with a very specific idea of what you’re after and C Madeleine’s will produce it. I felt like I needed a map to navigate through the store but it was quite conveniently sectioned off into…Period Categories: Victorian-20′s // 30′s-50′s // 60′s-70′s, Thematic Categories: Cocktail/Party Dresses // Ethnic // Beach, Accessories are again neatly displayed…

However, in such a cavernous vintage store, this doesn’t mean it’s cheap as chips and of course it could never be so when you have Alaia, Valentino, Chanel, Balenciaga and Thierry Mugler jumping out at you as well as a display of high craftsmanship especially in the older pieces.”

On May 8, 2010, Womenade of Miami will launch its community-wide campaign with a fashion event called Take a Walk in Her Shoes. We aim to celebrate women and mothers from “all walks of life” with a vintage fashion show produced by world famous stylist, Danny Santiago (Sex and the City and Ugly Betty) featuring an exquisite vintage collection presented by C.Madeleine’s.
What a wonderful way to celebrate Mother’s Day!

In honor of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibit Punk: Chaos to Couture opening May 9, our team gathered an assortment of punk inspired pieces we have here at C. Madeleine’s.  Punk has been a huge influence on fashion since the 70s.  Images of Patti Smith, John Lydon, and Sid Vicious have inspired countless designers to tear, cut, and pin together clothing in the name of punk.

Anyone who was anyone in the 1970’s owned an East West Musical Instruments Co. jacket. Although the company had nothing to do with music, it allowed rockers to notice the quality by its name. Owned by Norman Stubbs and David Warren, they not only made leather jackets, but also belts and other leather goods. Worn by Janis Joplin, Iggy Pop, Elvis, Carlos Santana, and even Bruce Springsteen, these jackets are known for their great quality and uniqueness. In the late 70’s, East West Musical Instruments Co. changed their name to East West Leather, which is obviously less of a mouthful, and products can be found by both names. Just like anything else popular, this style of jacket was mimicked by designers such as Balenciaga in 2010, and Miu Miu in 2011. Urban Outfitters even tried doing their own rendition of the jacket but the quality difference is very noticeable. Many of those who worked for this company own jackets today that they made themselves, valuing up to $5,000, and if you look at photos of the jackets, you can see that they all belong in the same family. We hope that the history of this jacket means as much to you as it meant to the people who wore it before you. Rock on!

For the fashion enthusiast who sees glamour and femininity in technicolor, we at C.Madeleine’s suggest becoming acquainted with the effervescent English designer, Zandra Rhodes. With a fervent focus on printed textile design throughout her Art School years, since entering the fashion world in the late 1960s, Rhodes’ flair for intense color and unique ethnic inspired prints quickly became her celebrated namesake. While incorporating her bright and eccentric prints upon dramatic silhouettes that were fit for royalty, Rhodes’ pieces ultimately caught the attention of such style mavens as Diana, Princess of Wales, Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, and ‘Queen’ front liner Freddie Mercury.

With decades of award-winning designs under her fiercely fabulous belt, Ms. Rhodes’ was questioned by authors Monsef, Safer, and de Niet on which masterpiece she holds with the highest adoration. Featured in their impressively illustrated book, ‘My Favourite Dress’, Rhodes’ honors her famed Ayers Rock print of 1974 as the treasured choice. The popular design that was amongst the closet’s of one Jackie Onassis and sister, Princess Lee Rodiwell, can now be yours to own and cherish for all your fashion forward days to come.
